INFORMATION SESSION:

 

Friday, February 10th @ 12 noon in Kell Hall Room 330

 

Have you ever wanted to learn more about Geographic Information Systems and mapping in a beautiful tropical landscape? Have you ever wanted to explore another culture and meet new people? Have you ever wanted to use maps and GIS in collaboration with local communities in another country to impact positive change? If so, then Belize 2012 Maymester is the course for you!

 

Who can enroll in the course? When does the class meet?

 

The course is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. No experience with GIS is needed. Whether a GIS beginner or expert, there is room for you in the Belize study abroad experience. The class will travel to Belize for 10 days and 9 nights from May 9-18, 2012. Attendance at additional on-campus class sessions will also be required before and after the Belize trip during Maymester.

 

What courses can I get credit for?

 

Depending on your GIS experience and whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student you can sign up for one of the following: Geography 4532, 6532, 4097, or 6097.


About Belize...

 

Belize is a beautiful and diverse nation in Central America right on the Caribbean Sea. Belize also is home to the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and countless Mayan Ruins sites including Xunantunich. Belize is an English speaking country that accepts American currency. A quick 3 hour direct flight from Atlanta will have students in Belize for a once in a lifetime educational experience.
